About TYC

Tean Youth Club Working Group was set up in October 2013 by a group of dedicated mums and dads who wanted a safe environment for their local young people.  After months of donating their time to training, organising, form filling and preparation in April 2014 the doors were opened to young people of the community.  Word spread fast and now the Youth Club has over 40 young people attending each session from Tean and the surrounding area.

Thanks to our Community Volunteer Champions and our two qualified youth workers, who are supported by Checkley Parish Council, local young  people have a low cost place to go outside of school.

The activities and support from youth leaders and volunteers allow young people to learn new skills, build confidence, and have fun.

We have:

  • Variety of activities to suit all

  • Table Tennis, Pool Table, Games Console and much more
  • Excursions and activities off site

  • Sports activities
  • Tuck shop

Shake a Volunteer’s Hand

Volunteers are a very special breed.
They’re not afraid to step in when they see the need.

They’re always willing to lend a hand,
To lift someone up who’s sinking in quicksand.

They always have something encouraging to say,
And they manage to say it in the kindest way.

They share their skills, talents and time.
And in return, they don’t ask for a dime.

So the next time you meet with some volunteers,
Shake their hands, and let them know you’re happy they’re here.

WHY BECOME A VOLUNTEER?
